Philharmonic Orchestra “Mihail Jora” of Bacau, Romania; founded in 1956, the Orchestra consists of approximately 70 first-class instrumentalists. It has performed concerts in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Gibraltar, United States of America, Greece, Malta, Russia, obtaining highly acclaimed critical success. A true working orchestra, the Philharmonic performed more than 100 concerts in 2003.
The repertoire of the Orchestra comprises pieces of symphonic, vocal-orchestral and chamber music from a large variety of periods and musical styles. For many years, the Orchestra has been invited to accompany semifinalists and finalists in important national and international competitions for Piano and Violin ( Cantu and Varallo – Italy) .
Thanks to its remarkable artistic quality, the Orchestra has been invited to record CD-s with various recording companies in Europe: Electrecord (Romania), Edi Pan, Musica Insieme (Italy), Cadence Music Production (Germany), Belgium, as well as others.
The Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, Romania was the core orchestra for the 2003 International Institute for Conductors in Catania, Italy.
